Hai HUANG received his Ph.D. in Physiology from theChineseUniversityofHong Kong,  Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, in 2003. He received his  undergraduate degree from the Nanchang University, China, in 1993 and  his master degree of science in Cell Biology from theChineseAcademyof Sciences,China, in 1997. He then joined the faculty ofSchoolofLife Sciencesin 1996 and was appointed lecturer in 1999.

The  current research of his group focuses on cellular signaling  transduction networks initiated by stress. One program is designed to  address the molecular pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease linked to  alpha-synuclein mutation and Alzheimer’s disease. The second project is  to investigate the physiological response of cell to trichosanthin, a  ribosome inactivating protein isolated from the Chinese medicinal herb Trichosanthes kirilowii Maximowicz.
