廖新化，男，教授，博士生导师。主要从事皮肤和附属器相关疾病（如脱发、创伤、白癜风、疤痕、大疱性表皮松解症等）发生的分子机理的基础研究，以及利用干细胞和基因疗法治疗皮肤病的应用研究。方法上综合运用分子、生化、细胞、动物模型以及生物信息学等手段。主持三项国家基金以及多项省部级基金，已发表学术论文三十多篇，科普论文4篇。主理研究生课程《干细胞与基因治疗》、《生物医药前沿与创新》、新生研讨课《生物医学的进展与挑战》以及高年级专业研讨课。曾获美国国立卫生研究院NIDDK Nancy Nossal Fellowship Award，福建省闽江学者称号。中国细胞生物学协会会员，中国实验动物协会英文期刊Animal Models and Experimental Medicine（AMEM）编委。

代表性研究成果
1.揭示了缠绕毛囊峡区的神经和血旺细胞复合体（lanceolate complex）和毛囊干细胞之间的相互作用关系；
2.发现了靶向顺反异构酶Pin1对肝癌以及皮肤癌的治疗作用及分子机理；
3.构建和鉴定了毛乳头特异的工具鼠，揭示了毛乳头多个基因对毛发生长的作用；
4.发明了一种评估分子在体内对毛发生长作用的定量方法；
5.构建了高效递送基因到皮肤的载体，该载体可用于各种皮肤病的治疗。
